Minago Critical Minerals Project Featured at Canada's First-Ever Investment Summit
TORONTO, September 15, 2026 — The Minago Critical Minerals Project was among 63 Minerals and Metals projects promoted by Canada to investors from around the world at the Canada Investment Summit, held September 14–15 in Toronto.
Minago was one of only three projects from Manitoba included in the Minerals and Metals project offering.
The summit was convened by Prime Minister Mark Carney and hosted in partnership with the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and PSP Investments. It brought together investors from nearly 30 countries managing more than $100 trillion in assets.
According to a September 15 news release from the Prime Minister of Canada, the summit brought nearly $500 billion in new investment commitments to Canada. These included nearly $100 billion in new capital commitments from Canadian pension funds, insurance companies and institutional investors, nearly $325 billion in new financing commitments from Canadian banks, and more than $14 billion committed by investment funds to mobilise capital for Canadian companies, infrastructure and strategic sectors.
About the Minago Critical Minerals Project
The Minago Critical Minerals Project is an Indigenous-owned critical minerals development in northern Manitoba. It combines a nickel-platinum group metals (PGM) deposit with plans for domestic magnesium metal production.
The project aims to convert dolomite overburden into high-value magnesium and calcium aluminate products.
The nickel/PGM project is licensed for production, while a feasibility study is underway for Minago Magnesium.
The project's estimated capital expenditure (CapEx) is approximately US$1 billion.
Financing Objectives
The project's financing objectives include equity, debt, joint venture partners, strategic investors, project finance and offtake agreements.
