Minago Training Program in Partnership with PrairiesCan Supports Mining Job Readiness for NHCN Members

Minago is proud to share the success of its mining training program completed in partnership with PrairiesCan. The program provided hands-on training for NHCN members, helping prepare local workers for future opportunities in mining and quarry operations.

Overall, 46 NHCN members received training through the program. The final segment was especially successful, with 15 members trained in critical quarry skills, including drilling and blasting, rock crushing, roadwork, truck driving, excavator operations, loader operations, bulldozer operations, and other heavy equipment training.

Participants completed more than 2,700 hours of on-site training and spent over 850 person-days in a remote camp setting, gaining valuable experience in both mining operations and camp life. Training also included common core and first aid, helping ensure participants were prepared for real-world workplace conditions.

The program achieved several important milestones, including no reported injuries and full completion by all trainees in the final segment. This successful training is an important step in building local skills and supporting future employment opportunities connected to Minago’s quarry operations.
