MINAGO Receives Environment Act License Allowing The Minago Critical Minerals Project to proceed

Norway House, Manitoba – Minago Development GP Inc. (Minago) is pleased to announce that it has received an amended Manitoba Environment Act Licence, allowing the Minago Critical Minerals Project to proceed. The project is now licensed as a 10,000 tonne per day operation. Completion of the Notice of Alteration (NOA) process clears the way for Minago, 100% owned by Norway House Cree Nation (NHCN), to complete detailed project planning and financing.

This milestone marks the successful end of a lengthy process to improve planned tailings and water management that started in 2014. The project changes approved in the NOA were the subject of an extensive Indigenous community consultation process that started three years ago and involved the four surrounding First Nations including (Mosakahiken Cree Nation (Grand Rapids), Misapawistik Cree Nation (Moose Lake), Pimicikimak Cree Nation (Cross Lake), Norway House Cree Nation, and the Manitoba Metis Federation.

Receiving this environmental amendment moves the project closer to its goal of providing critical minerals for Canada. The project remains committed to protecting the land, water, and air. It will also help to end the cycle of poverty by creating hundreds of jobs and millions of dollars in economic activity which will benefit NHCN, the region, and Manitoba for generations to come.

Minago is advancing work to develop companion projects to extract value from the dolomite, sandstone, and granite that must be quarried before the Nickel deposit. This approach is in keeping with the First Nations principle of using the “entire animal” that is Harvested.

This new value proposition will help satisfy the increasing demand for critical minerals in Canada and the world. The first phase is to quarry the Minago dolomite for use in Magnesium production.
